BOUTINOT SOUTH AFRICA 14% ABV
Cape Heights is the benchmark for our single variety South African range. The name 'Cape Heights' is a direct link to the grapes that are sourced from across the Western Cape, an area of cold coastal vineyards and warmer inland regions, stretching up to high mountain peaks. Individual parcel selection of each single varietal ensures we capture the best regional characteristics, while maintaining consistent quality for each vintage.
The grapes grow on rich granite Swartland soils. They are harvested at optimum ripeness for bold fruit flavours and smooth tannins. During fermentation in stainless steel the wine is pumped over twice daily, towards the end of fermentation this is reduced to once daily to avoid over extraction. After malolactic fermentation the wine is kept on fine lees before bottling for added mouthfeel.
Youthful and bright, the wine is packed with dark damson and berry fruit. A supple palate brings star anise spice and smooth tannins.
Marinated roast lamb, chargrilled aubergine in a tomato sauce, or Portobello mushroom burgers.
